¿Podría una moneda virtual calcada de la libra de Facebook remplazar al dólar como divisa de reserva mundial? Con esta propuesta inesperada, el gobernador del Banco de Inglaterra, Mark Carney, relanzó el viejo sueño de una moneda internacional.
Pero ¿cuáles son los fundamentos y las implicaciones de esta propuesta?.

¿De dónde viene la supremacía del dólar?

El dólar es considerado como la moneda de referencia desde el acuerdo de Bretton Woods en 1944, que fijó el valor de diferentes divisas respecto al billete verde. Este ya no está en vigor desde 1971, pero el dólar conservó su supremacía. «La moneda líder es siempre la del país que lidera políticamente», dice Philippe Waechter, director de investigación en Ostrum Asset Management. 

En el primer trimestre de 2019, el dólar representaba 61,8% de las reservas mundiales de cambio, muy por delante del euro y su 20,2%, según las últimas cifras del Fondo Monetario Mundial (FMI). China ambiciona convertir el yuan en una moneda de referencia, pero por ahora su divisa representa menos del 2% de las reservas mundiales.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
